Subtle abuse: A blind spot for professional women

A driving force for the work I do is the response I receive from women that have read about subtle abuse on my website or in the articles I write, or have heard me talk about subtle abuse on podcasts or at conferences. My work resonates with a worrying number of women. I am continuing my work by reaching as many professional women as possible, to help them recognise what they are going through, including the unique aspects of the subtle abuse of professional women, and to provide support for them to reach out for help. Research suggests that a high proportion of health care professionals (HCPs) are affected by domestic abuse, and that aspects of being an HCP result in unique vulnerabilities, and I am therefore delighted that my article Subtle abuse: A blind spot for professional women is now available on both the Medical Women's Federation (MWF) and The Doctor's Association (DAUK) Substacks. I hope those who recognise their situation in this article will be helped in making decisions as to what they do next.
